Children Play & Social

After-school programs that are designed to nurture a child’s social, physical and cognitive skills.

Spring Volleyball League 2024

From: 6 To: 18

Our six-week spring volleyball league creates an inclusive environment where interested players can enjoy the game of volleyball while benefiting from physical activity and social recreation. Players will learn and practice the skills of volleyball including, passing, setting, attacking, and serving. During this program, players will participate in skill building drills, as well as scrimmage-style competitive games.

Teens Together Social Group 2023-2024

From: 13 To: 18

Teens Together provides an opportunity for teens to learn and apply social and emotional skills in an inclusive environment through the use of engaging and interactive lessons, recreational games, and creative activities. The Teens Together curriculum will cover topics such as self-esteem, building relationships, managing emotions, mindfulness, and communication. This program is designed for participants who can independently engage in group activities without the support of a 1:1 volunteer.

AM Sunday Circle 2023-2024

From: 4 To: 12

This program offers the opportunity for children to practice social skills in a group setting while also receiving one-on-one engagement from volunteers. Participants are divided into small groups to partake in structured activities and free play throughout the Friendship Circle facility. Sunday Circle activities include music, drama, movement-based recreation, sensory play, arts and crafts, and free play in the activity wing. Throughout the year participants will build bonds with our teen volunteers and other participants in their group, creating a community of friendship. Sunday Circle is an hour and a half drop-off program, allowing for a wonderful respite opportunity for parents. This year we are offering a morning and afternoon session of Sunday Circle. Please only enroll in one Sunday Circle session.

Teen Trips 2023-2024

From: 13 To: 18

At Teen Trips, teen participants and volunteers go on weekly outings in the community to participate in social opportunities and recreational experiences. These trips give teens a space to bond with their peers, practice social interactions with community members, learn life skills, and have fun! Teen Trips takes place outside of Friendship Circle, giving teens the opportunity to engage in activities like bowling, shopping at the mall, swimming, visiting parks, museum-going and more!

Social Circle 2023-2024

From: 4 To: 18

Each week, participants meet with their volunteer at Friendship Circle to build friendship and enjoy free play with full use of the Elkus Gym and Bauer Activity Wing. Social Circle begins with kids meeting their buddies in the gym and participating in a mixer called a “Welcome Circle”. Social circle promotes independence by allowing participants to create their very own schedule, choosing from gym activities, snack making, art activities, and more. Parents are required to stay on-site for this hour-long program.


Siblings are invited to enroll.

Friendship Circle provides assistance and support to 3,000 individuals with special needs and their families by providing recreational, social,educational and vocational programming. In addition to helping those in need, the Friendship Circle enriches its vast network of volunteers by enabling them to reap the rewards of selfless giving.
