Art & Soul

Summer in metro Detroit is a great time to soak in the sun. It’s also the perfect time to embrace your creativity. Members of the community are invited to try their hand at weaving, drawing and ceramics starting June 17 during the newest session of ‘Art and Soul’ at the Dresner Foundation Soul Studio. You’ll receive attentive instruction and create unique pieces of art to take home while sampling delicious food and making a spiritual connection. Morning and afternoon classes are available Mondays and Fridays.

“Art and Soul fulfills you not only artistically, but also emotionally, spiritually and physically,” says Debbie Markzon, a frequent participant. “It’s a win-win because you’re helping to support a great cause as well.”

In addition to taking art classes, program participants share a meal at Soul Café, followed by a thoughtful Torah session. Artists also have the opportunity to socialize and make new friends. Art and Soul is a program of Friendship Circle of Michigan, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing every individual with special needs the support, friendship and inclusion they deserve.

“There are fabulous teachers that give us lots of one-on-one instruction,” Debbie explains. “I love being in it, I love going and I learn a lot.”

There’s still time to sign up for classes, which run from June 17 to August 9 on Mondays and Fridays. The cost is $150 per session. For more information, please CLICK HERE.
