A Miracle for Your Medical Bills

Okay.  As a parent of a child with special needs, you need a break every once in a while to just relax and have a good time, right?  So here’s a fun exercise: First, stand up and stretch your arms way over your head.  Now touch your toes.  Now go over to that dark, dusty corner where you keep all your…medical bills.

Wait, come back!...

I know, the very thought of dealing with bills from providers and paperwork from insurance companies probably makes you want to crawl under the desk and pull a blanket over your head.  No one likes dealing with it.  And that’s why we started Simplee, a completely free website that makes tracking and managing health bills easy and almost enjoyable.  Not possible, you say?  Here’s how Simplee helps you climb Mount Paperwork:

1. Puts everything in one place

You probably have one file for your health insurance company, one file for your dental insurance, some old files for your previous health insurance company, one for your doctor, one for the speech therapist, one for the occupational therapist, and on and on.  With Simplee all your visits covered by any insurance plan are shown in one place so you can quickly look them over.  And if you change insurance companies, you don’t lose access to the old records.

2. Explains the dreaded “explanation”

Some time after your visit to a doctor or therapist, but before you get a bill, you will get something from your insurance company called an “explanation of benefits.”  Has this document ever really explained anything to anyone, including why it is “NOT A BILL”?  Check out that claim on Simplee instead.  Simplee explains in plain English what services you got, what your provider charged, what your insurance covered and why, and what you are responsible for.  Every claim, for every provider and insurance company, is explained exactly the same way to make it easy for you to understand what’s going on.

3. Helps you fight the fight

Did you know that sometimes bills are wrong?  I know, hard to believe.  You are no doubt the veteran of many a tussle with providers who charged for mysterious services and insurance companies who wouldn’t cover things you thought they should.  We would love it if we could get on the phone and help you with that!  We can’t, but we can make it a little easier for you.  For one thing, each claim detail page shows your claim number, your insurance number, and contact numbers for your insurance company and your provider.  We do everything but put the phone in your hand.  And of course it’s also easy to look at different claims to make sure each one is being treated the same way—quick and powerful.

4. Tracks your deductible and out of pocket spending

With high-deductible plans ever on the increase in America, many families might never meet their deductible in a year.  But special needs families might not only gallop right through their deductible but also head quickly towards the out-of-pocket limit as well.  Simplee tracks where you are with your deductible and also shows you your total out-of-pocket for the year so you can keep track.  Knowing when these limits are met can have a big effect in how you plan out frequency and timing of treatments.

5. Lets you pay with a click

In a world of fast, easy electronic payment, doctor bills are still stuck firmly in 1977.  You go to the doctor and months later you get a bill in the mail.   You try to match that up with the not-a-bill thing from the insurance company to figure out why you’re being billed what you’re being billed, and eventually after some phone calls and frustration you send a paper check off in the mail.  And then you settle down on your rust corduroy sofa to watch The Love Boat.  Well, no more!  After you use Simplee to see exactly what you’re meant to pay and why, you can click a few buttons and pay online like a civilized person.  Even if you don’t pay through Simplee you can mark bills as paid with one click so you never again have to wonder what you paid and when. So don’t let bills from doctors and other providers take up any more space in your head or your life.  Try out Simplee and see how simple it can be. Simplee
