About

Lessons for Life helps thousands of special education students from more than 80 schools, both public and private, in 40 school districts in Southeast Michigan learn and practice life skills in a realistic, safe, and controlled environment. For many of these students, these may be the only life skills lessons they receive. The educational experience takes place in a bona fide village, which comes to life with adult volunteers, who are the village’s cafe barista, librarian, dentist, bank teller, police officer and more. A lesson in Lifetown teaches transferable life skills to every student, from how to fill out a deposit slip at the bank, to remembering an appointment time in the hair salon.
