The Shofar & The Dog

Rosh Hashanah starts tonight at sun down. And one of the many traditions associated with this Jewish New Year is the blowing of the Shofar. A Shofar is a horn of a kosher animal with the marrow removed. Each year, Rabbi’s around the world blow into the shofar with a calculated sequence of breaths not only as a great mitzvah, but also as a metaphorical “wake up call” to those who hear the Shofar’s noise. This wake up call is meant for people to reflect upon their past year, consider where they can improve their lives and commit themselves to those improvements in the New Year. Every year at Rosh Hashanah, The Friendship Circle recommits itself to our mission of spreading the good word about individuals with special needs. People with special needs hide behind no curtains. They are exactly who they are, no strings attached. They are never fake, never misleading and never ill-intentioned. They love unconditionally and give the world all of their joy, without expecting anything in return. In a world of unpredictable happenings, we believe the safest bet is to “put it all on the line” and be who you are, with no shame and no fear. And who better to teach us than individuals with special needs? We hope you enter this New Year with a smile and joy in your heart. And to assist you in that, here is a hilarious video about that shofar and the unpredictable world we live in.
