Volunteer LogoNothing makes children feel better about themselves than spending time with friends that truly care about them. Through the Morrie and Sybil Fenkell Volunteer Club, remarkable bonds are forged between the children with special needs and their new friends.

The volunteer's commitment and willingness to give of their time reminds us that today's men and women, young and old, are caring, compassionate, and dedicated to making a difference in every child and adult they encounter.

In addition to making an impact on a child, a volunteer will see the impact their work makes on themselves. By helping others the volunteers help themselves, feeling more fulfilled, self confident, and comfortable in their own skin. The Volunteer Club began in 1995 with eight members. Today, more than 800 dedicated individuals aged 12 and up participate in this wonderful enterprise.

Adult Volunteers

The Adult Division of The Morrie and Sybil Fenkell Volunteer Club consists of over 350 volunteers. These volunteers become an integral part of the Weinberg Village experience when they transform into bank tellers, librarians, pet shop owners, doctors, dentists and more. Adult volunteers work closely with our Lessons for Life students by role playing in the village's true-to-life setting. In addition to Weinberg village, Adult Volunteers help out with our after school programs by using their professional skills as therapist, martial arts instructors, dance & art teachers, sports coaches, etc.

Teen Volunteers

The Teen Division has grown to over 450 young adults ages 14-21. The teens provide a nucleus of volunteers that help out with a number of programs on Sundays and after school. Each volunteer is matched with a child who has special needs and the volunteer becomes a friend the child never had. The volunteer develops a special relationship with his or her child which can even lead to whole families becoming involved.
